BEST EVER HOT FUDGE SAUCE

This recipe is from an AAUW friend, Marilyn Jensen. She just called it chocolate sauce but more than one person has said, “It is so good you want to eat it with a spoon”. Use a small amount to top a special dessert or give a jar as a gift to your favorite chocoholic.

 One stick (1/4 pound) butter

1 ¾ cup white sugar

5 Tablespoons cocoa

1 12 oz. can EVAPORATED milk

2 teaspoons vanilla

Mix sugar and cocoa together in a bowl. Melt butter in a heavy pan. Add sugar-cocoa mixture. Stir in evaporated milk. Cook over medium heat. Stir often until it begins to bubble, then only occasionally. Once bubbling, time the cooking for 15 minutes. The mixture will remain thin; if it begins to thicken, it has cooked too long. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Let cool before pouring into a container. Refrigerate
